Liar of the Year is an editorial archive of independent fact-checking verdicts. We do not determine what is true or false ourselves.

Each entry in the ranking is based on:

• A public statement by a public figure
• A published fact-check by an independent organization
• A verdict such as “False”, “Misleading”, or “Unsupported”

Sources include:

• Reuters Fact Check
• Associated Press Fact Focus
• PolitiFact
• FactCheck.org
• AFP Fact Check

Statements remain in the archive unless the original fact-checker corrects or retracts them.
